Photographs taken in Jodhpur, India. Including photos of Jodhpur street life, the iconic blue buildings of the city, the Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan and the Toorji Ka Jhalara stepwell.

I didn’t feel like I had a very good or extensive collection of photos for a comprehensive full sized photopack, but thought it might still be worth putting up what I had for free for people to use!

Photographs taken at the Elephanta and Kanheri caves in Mumbai.

The Kanheri Caves are a group of caves and rock-cut monuments cut into a massive basalt outcrop in the forests of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, on the island of Salsette in the western outskirts of Mumbai.

Elephanta caves are located on Elephanta Island, or Gharapuri (literally “the city of caves”) in Mumbai Harbour.

Photographs taken in Gwalior, India.

Gwalior Fort is a hill fort in central India. It has existed at least since the 10th century, and the inscriptions and monuments found within what is now the fort campus indicate that it may have existed as early as the beginning of the 6th century.

In my own opinion, it’s a real hidden gem of India, one that I only visited on a whim and was absolutely unexpectedly blown away by the quality and the aesthetics of the architecture, and to top it all off, it was almost devoid of other tourists!

Photographs taken at the Agra Fort, Agra and Red Fort, Delhi

Agra Fort is a historical fort in the city of Agra in India. It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty till 1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi.

The Red Fort was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal dynasty for nearly 200 years, until 1856. It is named for its massive enclosing walls of red sandstone and is considered to represent the zenith of Mughal creativity under Shah Jahan, and although the palace was planned according to Islamic prototypes, each pavilion contains architectural elements typical of Mughal buildings that reflect a fusion of Timurid and Persian traditions.

Photographs taken in Khajuraho India.

Khajuraho temples were built between 950 and 1050 by the Chandela dynasty. The temple site had 85 temples by the 12th century, spread over 20 square kilometers Only about 25 temples have survived, spread over 6 square kilometers. Of the various surviving temples, the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple is decorated with a profusion of sculptures with intricate details, symbolism and expressiveness of ancient Indian art.

Photographs taken in Delhi and Fatehpur Sikri.

Jama Masjid of Delhi, is one of the largest mosques in India. It was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 and 1656 with three great gates, four towers and two 40 metres high minarets constructed with strips of red sandstone and white marble.

The identically named Jama Masjid of Fatehpur Sikri is one of the largest mosques in India and is a most sought after pilgrimage site by the devotees. Built in 1572, Buland Darwaza is the highest gateway in the world at 54 metres and is an example of Mughal architecture.
